Military/Defense Strategists & Analysts

Work Location: Washington DC Area with hybrid work possibilities. 

Inspirata Consulting, LLC (Inspirata) is currently seeking Military/Defense Strategists & Analysts to join our growing team. These teammates will provide support to DoD (Department of Defense) clients involved in force modernization efforts. They will also: 

  • Work closely with Defense stakeholders on issues of military modernization 

  • Develop an understanding of the needs of the clients and stakeholders and translate them into real-time deliverables in the form of situation reports and briefings for senior Defense leadership. 

  • Conduct periodic formal briefings for senior defense officials on all aspects of force modernization efforts. 

  • Monitor and evaluate concerns/drivers of senior Defense leadership on program priorities and resourcing tradeoffs.  

  • Understand service prioritization of efforts, resource reallocation (from legacy programs to future force across multiple Cross Functional Teams) in the remaining FY22 budget and potential Continuing Resolutions, and FY23 budget request.  

  • Monitor and evaluate concerns/drivers of key Defense stakeholders (e.g., the Secretary of Defense; the Deputy Secretary of Defense; CAPE; Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD (R&E)); Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD (A&S)); and Joint Staff) that impact key service programs and initiatives including geographic and functional combatant commands. 

  • Monitor and evaluate potential Congressional impacts to service priority programs during various 2022 and future Congressional Hearings, including resultant Congressional mark-ups, (e.g., House 2023 NDAA; Senate 2023 NDAA; HAC-D Bill; SAC-D Bill; final Conference negotiations; etc.). 

  • Identify and recommend potential corrective action or outreach efforts.  

  • Monitor and evaluate service resourcing priorities during the upcoming 2023-2027 year PoM-build, and future PoM-builds. 

  • Monitor visible challenges on programs (from program execution; resourcing; and acquisition strategy perspectives) and recommend potential strategy-options where appropriate. 

  • Monitor traditional defense contractors and industry that impact program affordability and execution (e.g., CEO priorities, executive compensation incentives, corporate and sector financial performance, quarterly results calls, various investor conference briefings, Mergers and Acquisitions, capital/cash deployment to investors, excessive debt, and R&D and capital investments). 

  • Monitor potential impact of “externalities” (e.g., FY22 Continuing Resolution negotiations, surprise industry lobbying in response emerging special interests) that will impact modernization resourcing, and larger signature programs. 

  • Recommend methods to refine current processes. 

  • Develop reports using MS Word, SharePoint, MS Excel data sets, MS Teams, and Power BI. 

 

Required Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in security studies, business administration, government, or related discipline (Masters preferred). 

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting or a related industry. 

  • Project management certification or experience preferred. 

  • Experience in overseeing process improvement and program metrics gathering and analysis. 

  • Experience in activity and data modeling, developing modern business methods, identifying best practices in consulting with clients, and creating and assessing performance measurements.  

  • Experience in group facilitation, interviewing, training, and additional forms of knowledge transfer. 

  • Experience in editing and graphics for major documentation tasks and contract deliverables.  

  • Experience in verbal communication skills demonstrated by broad experience in leading facilitated discussions (among stabilization stakeholders regarding operational, strategic, and institutional challenges) and preparing documents/reports for use in high-level decision making.  

  • Experience in written communications used in high-level executive products. 

  • SECRET security clearance.
